Performance upgrade is $2k. So you're pretty much right on top of a performance. Brakes mean you'd be past that expense. However you don't need to do it all at once. Also, you now have a Model 3 that's FAR superior suspension wise than stock. Stock suspension, even on a Performance, is the weakest link.

The acceleration boost will not turn a long range Model Y/Model 3 into a Performance model but it will unleash more power from the front drive unit motor. We recently did this same test with a 2019 Tesla Model 3 dual-motor, long-range, and finished up with 290 miles and an excellent efficiency rate of 4.25 mi/kWh (14.6 kWh/100 km).
Keep in mind that except of the Plaid versions, the P versions performance gain over their normal counterpart basically evaporates over 50 mph. Think of the P version of the 3/Y as having a super version of acceleration boost that flames out by 60 mph. So they seem a little punchier off the line and then fall flat by 50.
The other big difference is Track Mode which allows granular control of where you want the power to go (front and rear motors). If you plan on tracking the car or use it for races (even for fun) then go with Performance. Otherwise for 99.9% of use cases you wonโt even use the full power of AWD, let alone Performance.
